Better than the Macy's Parade...
My 88 year old mom-in-law, Mrs. Clara M. of Deerfield Beach, Florida, participating in my holiday tradition of cooking to the The Clash and other 80s punk.

Grace, this is wonderful. Definitely one of the most inspiring Thanksgiving posts this year.
Rock on!

Happy T-Day, Grace!
That was almost as inspiring as Andy Williams singing "Everybody's Got Something to Hide 'Cept for Me and My Monkey."
A-riggy diggy dig dang dang! indeed.

I had Thanksgiving with Baptists. Southern Baptists. And even though I am no longer one of the flock, I had to function within the parameters of my hosts...Mom and Dad.
Needless to say, there was no one bustin' any KIND of a move at that event. And, because my elderly aunt thinks that no one in any part of her family touches alcohol (though she's seen me drink at my own house), my sweet mother decided to maintain the fiction. Still we got through the dinner without anyone catching fire over politics or religion.
What? No one arguing about the political turmoil in the good old U.S. of A? It's a Thanksgiving Miracle!
Happy Anniversary!

One of the things many of us in the blogosphere were thankful for this year? All the incredible (and time-consuming) work you did toward Katrina relief. Hope your MIL knows what a special DIL she has. The lady's got moves. :)

See, that's what is missing from the T'giving and other holidays at other people's houses! When I host (which isn't as often as I like), I always have some cool tunes to cook to and to just enjoy. It seems like what is lacking at my in-law's houses is the damn music!
Good-greif, does your MIL's coolness know no end?

Oh this is fantastic!
Thanks for posting.

How cute is that? I wish MY mother would listen to the Clash. It might mellow her out a bit.

Heh.

There's a mama what knows how to make gettin' the turkey to the table fun! I'm laughing and laughing- you and yours are altogether too much. Happy post-thanksgiving clean up to you, dear Grace.

Nice knockers and The Clash on Thanksgiving! Grace, you're a fine woman.
Though, I recommend "This Is England" while carving. It gives you the opportunity to hold up the big blade while singing, "This knife is Sheffield Steel..."
Adds a bit something, don't you think?

AWESOME.

I just came across your blog through reading Bumblebee Sweet Potato's-and you had me rolling in the aisles with these pics of mom grooving to the Clash on Turkey Day.
Brought me back to the early 80s Combat Rock tour when I nearly got crushed to death at a Clash concert in SUNY-Binghamton by a burly Clash fan in head-to-toe fatigues (complete with face covering green mesh - scary).
I haven't listened to the Clash in a while - I'mm going to have to download some from Itunes tonight....
You're a great writer - I'll definitely be back!!
