Diagnosis - One Bad Hip
1. Right hip FAI - Femoral Acetabular Impingement, or too much friction in the ball joint and socket.
2. Right hip dysplasia.
3. Right hip trochanteric bursitis.
GREAT. Sheesh.
Apparently, I've always had the dysplasia. But, now that I'm older, it's showing up. Usually doesn't present in adults until the 30s and 40s, so I've had some good use of my hips as well as good karma.
Next step - MRI on Saturday. They're going to inject my right hip with dye for a really good look. I will insist on major sedation for that and the MRI.
Surgery is on the horizon.

I'll be thinkin' about ya. Hang in there dollin'! xo

First you make me look up where the trochanter is.. then I learn that humans get dysplasia too! (I thought it was only dogs!) Ouch, young lady!
Rest now, and heal well. Remember: we have a date for Opening Day in April!

so does this mean you don't have a broken trocywhatsis? that you have this displayed thing instead?

Oh boo, sorry to hear about this. Keep smiling though! Will be sending healing thoughts.

take care of yourself.

Oh, man. I've got congenital hip issues myself, and it bites. The good news is that after all is said and done, you'll be good to go for another 50 years.

holy bones, batman! well, at least it's fixable, and like everyone says, you'll have the best drugs and an excuse for ordering people to and fro at your beck and call. here's hoping to a relatively pain-free procedure and a speedy recovery!

I'm trying to work on some kind of "you're too hip" comment but it's not working.

Thankewsoooomuch dollins.
(shuffling feet, then yelling IN PAIN because I turned my right foot in a weird slightly dislocating way)
About the fracture at the top of the greater trochanter, it's there and the bone doctor says it's "acute", meaning that he agrees it probably hurts like a m*therf*cker. Still, he was focused on the dysplasia.
And, yes, Deb, it's all very canine. The first thing I thought was "Just like a German Shepard!" Ruff. Also - Opening Day? Sounds great. Hold me to that.
