Bug Juice for All!

West Nile is here and it’s dangerous. Please send bug spray.

The post-Katrina problem of mosquitoes (and love bugs" and who knows what else) is visible and frightening. We'd like to avoid bugborn badness as much as possible!

While insecticides are not our amour of choice, this is an emergency  situation. Rirst responders, rebuilders, and debris diggers need protection from the biters, so pack up that box of bug juice and send it south!

Send your bug juice to any shelter on the list.

Just sent an email to SG Johnson, maker of "Off" insect repellent, asking for help. It will be interesting to see if they respond. I'm mailing a box of "Off" myself to one of the shelters.
This Blog is so awesome! Thank you to everyone who is helping even if it is in a small way. I'm a Mississippian living in Baltimore who wants to help my homestate.

I ordered 20 bottles of Off! last week from drugstore.com (free shipping) and had it sent directly to one of the shleters Grace highlighted as desparately needing it. I also contacted SG Johnson and got a very canned response. Read on...

Dear Melissa,

Thank you for your email regarding Hurricane Katrina. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of this disaster, as well as the rescue and relief workers.

In order to quickly provide support to the entire region, SC Johnson made a monetary donation to the American Red Cross through the SC Johnson Fund. The Company also made a significant donation of OFF!(r) Insect Repellents. We recommend you check with the Red Cross for needed supplies.

We appreciate your thoughtfulness and desire to help the many affected families throughout the Gulf Coast.

Regards,

Kcrista T.
